Frequently Asked Questions
About Weekday Candles
What makes Weekday Candles so special?
Well, there are a few reasons if we don’t say so ourselves! We pride ourselves on having a very short supply chain - all of our materials are sourced within North America.
We pour all of our candles by hand at our warehouse in Calgary in small batches to ensure optimal quality for each and every candle. Our product photos are all taken locally as well, and our entire design process is handled by a group of awesome humans at our office.
All of our candle scents are carefully selected from hundreds of samples that we go through together as a team, twice a year. Once we find a smell that we believe fits with our collection, we test pour and test burn to ensure that the throw hits just right before we go ahead and offer them for sale to our customers. When you buy from us, you can trust that a real person has vetted the fragrance for you!
What are Weekday candles scented with?
All of our candles are scented with clean fragrance oil blends! We use pthalate-free oils from a trusted North American supplier.
How are Weekday Candles made/poured?
Great question! Our candle making process is fairly simple. We safely heat up our wax, mix in our oils, and pour into our vessels. We do this all from our warehouse in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Because this process is all done by hand (with tons of love!) we always pour in small batches to ensure that we get a perfect ratio each time.
Candle Care & Safety
Is there anything I need to do before lighting my candle for the first time?
Trim candlewicks to 1/8 inch each time before burning. You can snap the wick with your fingers, but we’ve found that using a nail clipper works well for this too! This is essential for a safe burn and long burn.
For the initial candle lighting it is recommended to keep the candle lit for 2 hours to allow the candle to create a full and even burn pool across the entire candle.
How long do Weekday Candles burn?
Our burn time is between 36-42 hours per 8oz candle. This time can be maximized by trimming the wick before each use, and burning for at least 2-3 hours at a time to allow for an even burn pool.
How can I make sure my candle burns down evenly?
Burning our candles for a minimum of 2-3 hours at a time will ensure that the melted wax pool has reached the sides of the tin or jar which optimizes your overall burn time.
NEVER leave your candle unattended. With wood wicks, the flame will grow over time.
As your candle burns down the tin, please ENSURE you are ALWAYS aware of flame and wax level. DO NOT BURN A CANDLE WITH LESS THAN 1/2″ wax in the container.
What are some important safety considerations I should keep in mind?
As your candle burns down the tin, please ENSURE you are ALWAYS aware of flame and wax level. DO NOT BURN A CANDLE WITH LESS THAN 1/2″ wax in the container.
Always burn candles on a HEAT-PROOF surface, and NEVER NEAR ANYTHING THAT COULD CATCH FIRE.
Keep candles out of the reach of small children and pets. No singed tails please!
Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.
Keep burning candles away from drafts, vents and ceiling fans to minimize smoking or a wick blowing out causing the candle to burn unevenly.
Never touch a burning candle or move a candle when the wax is liquid.
Never extinguish candles with water.
Make sure a candle is completely extinguished and the wick ember is no longer glowing before leaving the room.
We can’t say it enough, so here it is again! Please, NEVER, EVER leave a burning candle unattended!
Can I repurpose the tin after use?
Sure you can! While we don’t have formal instructions to pass onto our customers, we suggest safely removing any wax and residue from the vessel, along with removing the remainder of the wick and clip. Our candle vessels are NOT dishwasher safe, so if you choose to repurpose them please be sure that you wash and clean the vessel thoroughly by hand.
